RIAT Grad Spotlight: Lane Kwederis, m.AmSAT

What advice would you give to yourself at the beginning of your training?

I would tell myself to trust myself more and that I don’t need to try so hard to get it all right. In fact, that’s what the technique is really all about. It’s not about working hard but rather learning how to work with more presence and ease.

Why did you choose to train at RIAT?

I had been doing weekly lessons with Ariel Carson who is one of the associate directors. Doing lessons with her changed my life… (I began sleeping better, my stomach issues had gone away, chronic injuries and anxiety got better, and my whole nervous system became more settled). She had also studied under Nanette Walsh who is the founder and director of RIAT so it was a no brainer.

Why are you proud to be a RIAT grad?

The work that RIAT does is so profound. There is such a commitment to meeting people where they are and offering them a new way of life. There is such a focus on autonomy and inclusion which I think is so important. Also, the training itself there is excellent. Every single teacher is so incredibly skilled and every single graduate is as well as a result. I feel so honored and grateful that I’ve been able to train at RIAT.
